The WOW Week

The last week has been so SO amazing.

Really, though. I don't think I've ever been so happy for the space of 30 hours running.

On Wednesday (Australia time) Jordan's sister, Kenzie had her baby. It was so exciting and lovely to talk to her on the phone. We can't wait to see everyone.

On Thursday one of my dear friends, Brianna got married! She and her now husband, Michael were sealed in the Melbourne temple. Jordan and I went to the reception that evening. She looked STUNNING. Of course she'd made her own dress, too (she also made my wedding dress).

I was so happy for her that I kept getting weepy.

Licensed To Drive

Yep, that's right. I finally mastered that parallel park and it looks like I'll have to master it all over again on the other side of the road in what looks like 5 weeks time. The Boones plan to be homeward bound very soon.

Road Trip

Jordan and I took a trip a couple of weeks back.


Firstly we visited a Ghost town called Steiglitz. It was a booming town during the Gold Rush era but now it's practically deserted. Jordan has a thing for Ghost towns, so we just had to go!

We went to a country town in the bush called 'Daylesford'. I'd never been there before (which I know is shameful since I've lived here nearly my whole life). I wasn't expecting anything too special, but it was just beautiful. Probably the only place around that shows off autumn leaves and sports old English-style cottages. I was ready to pack up and move there, but Jordan said that we should be rational. I agreed.

Maybe we'll soon be in our new home in Utah. Maybe. Hopefully. Still waiting...

Crafty Auntie

We're still waiting for some more news on the visa situation and have been feeling pretty lousy about it. One more document to arrive in the post and then everything will be sent and hopefully flawless.

This is why I've been filling my days with crafts! When I married Jordan I became an aunt to his sister's children, Maxwell and Wesley - and it's great! I'm excited to spend some time with them and also with their soon-to-be cousin... Kenzie is expecting a baby girl in July. Now I have three little children to make lovely things for!

I've always been a keen crocheter, but recently I took a quilting class and now I'm obsessed! Next I want to learn how to sew clothing and I've also ordered a book on embroidery - I know, I know it's a lot.... But I'm so excited to learn new skills! Eventually I'd like to start my own Etsy store, too.

So that's what I've been up to!

I was camped out on the dining room table, but I've since moved upstairs. My parents have given me a sewing corner (very exciting) and I've just purchased my own first sewing machine which even comes with quilting abilities! YAY Today I quilted my first quilt for Kenzie's little daughter to-be. I am so proud of it!

Lately

Here's what's been happening lately -



Jordan persuaded me to take the 2 and a half hour train ride down the coast to see a Science Fiction display in an Art Gallery. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as he'd hoped... We then spent the day entertaining ourselves in the small town of Warnambool. This is what we spent most of the day doing -

In other news, I finally convinced Jordan to wear that bow-tie

We went on a trip to the Otway National Park (2.5 hour drive) where we had a weekend in a log cabin with ocean views (wedding gift). Here are some pictures.

I have been crocheting, cooking and I start a quilting class for beginners next Monday (I also hired a book on knitting from the library, but I've yet to start). This joblessness is giving me a chance to build and develop important crafty skills (and it's so much fun)!

Jordan has been playing guitar and assisting with yarn selections at our local craft store

Jordan proclaimed that he could tell the difference between Pepsi and Coca Cola. My parents put him to the test (literally) and they went out and purchased 7 different cola types for him to prove it. He nearly made it. Nearly...

My university degree arrived in the mail. I'm now an official University of Melbourne alumna.

And as we wait, wait and WAIIIIIIIITTTTTTT to hear something about my visa, we're trying to not let it bug us as much. But I'm still belting out this number in the shower quite frequently

Family

Over the last little while I've been pondering the importance of family and how great mine is.
My parents, especially have been a huge support to Jordan and I and truly believe in our marriage - and I really do feel so blessed (a lot of parents would have called their daughter crazy for wanting to get married at age 21 and claiming they'd met 'the one').

While Jordan's been here, not only do I now have my best friend for a husband, but I also have another person to tease my little sister (in the most loving way) with. And she gets both of us back just as hard!

On Christmas day there was a seat reserved next to mine, for my husband! That was truly great.

Right before the wedding, Jordan's mom, Deb came to stay with us. It was so nice to have her here and Jordan and I enjoyed showing her where I'm from.

Not too long after, Tim joined us (Jordan's dad) and we all had such a great time (the weather helped too)!

It really made me miss everyone in Utah - and it also got me thinking how great a thing it is that Jordan and I can now call all of these wonderful people 'our family'. And it just keeps getting bigger! Now Shelby has Max and Wesley, and Shad and Kenzie are expecting a baby girl. How wonderful!
It truly bites having family on different continents...

I hope we see our American family very soon. This whole visa situation is testing our patience. Big time.
